Introduction to Ancillary Production Work

This section requires us to produce our own digipack and advert to support our artist who we had for our music videos.

What is a digipak?
-Modern approach to CD packaging
-It adds to value
-It gives more information about the artist

In class we discussed what the inside and outiside of a digipak would look like and/or consist of.

Outside of a digipak:
-Firstly the artist's name which should clearly visible so he/she/they are acknowledged.
-The album title should be thereafter be important but some artists may choose not to have an album title.
-Outside should also include the tracklist which should be the same size and font as the album name/artist.
-The copyright info with year of production is also normally outside the package.
-Record label along with its logo or name
-Distributors, producer and/or price
-The image of the artist/ something linked towards the artist's music to take up the front design.

Inside of a digipak:
-Graphic design from outside should be continued inside, the visual style.
-Acknowledgements which are really tiny and its a short list.
-Sometimes there is also a repeat of the tracklist with tiny tiny information.

Digipak Styles:
-3-4 colours max
-2 fonts maximum
-Element of graphic design
-Creates a visual link

The second part of our ancillary product requires us to make an advertisement for our artist promoting the album or single.
This would include:
-A release date
-Prominent display of artist name and album title
-Same album image
-Attention to concert with tour dates
