Final Progress Review Blog

EVALUATION: Q4

Audience feedback on my music video was achieved very well as it was played at a cinema along with everyone else in my year group. It aired at 'The Screen'

Below are some of the things people had to say about it.

When asking Nancy & Angel what they had thought about my they had thought that it was very entertaining especially since it was the first one to be shown and that the artist had took on the role very well. Also when I asked them about the editing used with the lips scene they said that that was what had brought out the genre more.
However, they did express a few improvements that could have been made such as the dancers. They thought that their choreography and outfits should have been more planned which now looking back I can see what they mean.

The images above show that the dancers are not as organised costumewise. I think if I had a chance to do it again I would plan out their  outfit and make sure they were all able to learn the dance properly. As they were students from my college we had limited time do our film and them to had stuff that needed to be done.

Fabiola also enjoyed my music video she expresses both the strengths and weaknesses of it. I like the way she emphasised on the performance of the artist (me;}) and also the locations which she felt explained and suited the genre along with the dancers. The night shots are also something she liked too. Again, Fabiola explains that there should have been more camera movements. She uses the term 'static' which she felt it was like with the dancers.
I've learned from what she has said because watching back my music video I can see that there wasn't enough movement when it came to the dancers. There was a time I got this sort of feedback from my teacher who wanted us to go and re-film them but it was unfortunately not possible for them. So again I would say next time when I plan to do a video which requires dancers or just in general make sure there are various of shots not just a long-shot because it gives me nowhere to cut to which is important.

Final Advert!

This is my Ad below:

Final Digipak

Front Cover and Back:

And the Inside:

How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancilliary texts (digipack and advertisement)?

The effective features of my ancillary and video products=

*THE COLOUR SCHEME=
The colours that I used for the digipack and the advert were similar, the reason I did this was to make my audience familar with my artist.
*THE FONTS=
The fonts I used wee similar they both had the trendy and graffiti style to them.
*COSTUME=
My video had my artist and the clothing was in trend and urban. I used graffti images for my ancilary pieces but the style for the two were similar both young and colourful
*SETTING AND LOCATION=
The location for my video was the graffiti tunnels in Waterloo and we used tribal prints on the interactive whiteboard.

My video and ancilary piece is not the same as the usual because I chose to use images to get the theme of my video across in the digi pack of strong and independant women. I felt not using my artist would help my audience understand the meaning of the song and what Robyn my aritist wanted to represent.

MY TARGET AUDIENCE=
My target audience would be for around 13-25 year old. The songs are all about finding yourself and female independance. My songs stand out to these girls because Robyn J is dressed in young trendy clothes and she controls her songs and its all about livng life to the full.
Below is the image of a typical girl from my target audience.

My target audience would be someone who is online alot of the time so they would come across my digipack and video online. Another way the younger target audience fotr robyn J would encounter my video would be in music stores like hmv and online music selling stores like amazon and itunes.

My updated Digipak & Advert

These are how my ancillary products are looking at the moment.

I showed my teachers and they gave me some feedback on it. They had advised me to remove the pink background on my advert and make it white also remove the stripe bits on the front cover.
She also suggested that the blue colour used on the advert didn't really link in. So I changed that along with the way they came under each other.

Creating Final Digipak

Experimentation with font for title:

I wanted to use a font that would stand out against a vibrant background, but also one that went with the style of the rest of the album and didn't look too plain. I ended up deciding to use white for the fonts because it was the only colour that didn't blend in with the rest of the colours.

Mock up advertisment

My mockup for my advertisement I used a graffti image of a women I found in my research online to make my image different I used photo editor to get rid of the colour and to put a yellow faded look onto the ad.  The original photo is the one shown below

Mock up in progress

Colours I plan to use on my actual digipack. I have changed the original mock up idea of using the yellow and faded out colour that I put on my mock up. The blue is brighter and gives the vibe i want my digipack to give.
