Digipaks + Analysis

Whilst looking through a few albums that I own I had come across Drake's Take Care album and Beyonce's I Am Sasha Fierce album that relate to our genre being hip hop/ r&b.

Drake's album was pretty predictable. The use of colour and his surroundings in the images are I would say a typical representaion of the the genre hip-hop and r&b. This is because the gold ornaments could be a representation of money which is what is normally associated within this genre.

Beyonce's album seems like it would be emotional due to it being grey and without the use of bright colours however, the glamorous pictures of her that is used in the digipak tells us that she is quite glam which is also a representation of hip-hop and r&b artists. Even though Beyonce appeals to a younger audiene just goes to that you dont need bright colours in order for it to appeal to them. This is something that I may consider when doing my digipak.

Ciara is also relative to our genre being r&b and hip-hop. Her album seems like it would contain a number of slow r&b songs targeted at young females. What helps do this is the colour and font style that is used in her album.

What do these albums have in common? These albums have colour schemes that run throughout the album, they have many images of themselves and same font used throughout etc.
