Reflecting on AS year

Cha Cha slide  slide

summer work projects: Cha Cha Slide - Nancy, Ipek

Three technical strengths of our video -
*costume
*camera shots- we used closeups, mid shots, longshots however we could have used more
*setting- we used few different settings for our base tracks

Three technical weaknesses of our video-
*setting - we didnt choose the best settings- for example we filmed some of it in a park which fitted the song vibe well, but we also filmed in the college cafeteria
*synicing of music- our actions and lip movements didnt connect to the song the whole way through
*framing- for several important parts of the song and the standout shot of our feet crossing we were not fully in the frame.

In AS techinques we learnt

During my media lessons in AS we worked very hard to learn many different media and camera techniques. In our group we produced the thriller 'The Voice Behind' this was based on a ghost who possessed a young girl in order to finish off what he had failed to do in his life.

We learnt several new techiniques when producing our corsework all the different types of editing for example the slow motion to add effect and tension to the audiences take on your characters. The dissolves and fades to open up another part of the story. We learnt that in thrillers jumpcuts work very well to create the feeling of disjuncture and curiosity for audiences. Another lesson well learnt by us was that lighting makes a massive difference to the effect and the understanding of your work. One of our biggest mistakes I believe was that we filmed our thriller in day light and the effect we wanted it to have didnt, even with all the cuts and music and cosume the thrill had been sucked out of our work because the lighting made it look unbelivable.

Another well learnt lesson of last year was that mise en scene is very important. If what your trying to portray cant be well understood and your are not suited and dressed in the mind and way of your characters your ideas will not come across and your work will ultimately be mediocre and wont get you the grade you need.
