Audience Research

In general, our audience are young teenage girls and in specific, 13-18 year old. We have chosen this specific group because we feel they would relate to our artist a lot more as opposed to a 50 year old. This is because the lyrics to Home Run are about a girl who does not need a boy and just wants to have fun and 'rebel'. The lyrics are also about hitting the town, dancing and not having a care in the world. This is why our core audience is 13-18 year olds as they would feel it relates to them in some way. They would not need to worry about jobs and responsibilities. I feel it would not relate to someone a lot older than our chosen audience as its a feel good song and nothing serious. I feel the artist represents an independent woman and powerful and young girls would aspire to be like that.

Our audience tend to be aspirers who have a need for status and status symbols and have a love for cash; no interest in job security and read the latest magazines. They also have the latest gadgets, don't save their money and want to send out signals about their money and status. Young girls as our audience would have blackberry's, Ipods, read magazines, be aware of celebrities and generally have a passion for music. They look up to celebrities and want to be like them in ways that they can.

Below is an audio of me interviewing a young person on her musical tastes:
